Ti Flooring Novice Stars win Regional Silver Stick Championship
On Sunday, the Ti
Flooring Novice Stars clenched the Regional Silver Stick Championship. They began their tournament play on Friday
opening with a 1-1 tie against Kingston.
Saturday morning they faced a tough Stittsville team, but once again
came out even with a score of 3-3.
Saturday afternoon the Stars achieved their first win of the tournament, 8-2 versus Cumberland. This left the Stars in second place and facing Cumberland Sunday morning in the semifinal game. The team played hard, winning 2-0, and headed off to the finals to face Stittsville again. The game was a tight 2-1 until well into the second period. Napanee’s dominant team play and puck movement paid off with a 4-1 victory. When asked about the team’s play this weekend Coach Bob McCaw said, “The kids came together and played as a team with four different goal scorers in the final game. They played well, improving with each game they played.” Next stop for the Stars is St. Clair Shores, Michigan, January 20-22. A fundraising spaghetti dinner is being held at Crabby Joe’s on January 9. Tickets are $10.00/person and can be purchased from Marcia Godfrey 613-770-3359.
