And The Season Begins...
To kick off the 2017-2018 season, the Peewee BB Stars
travelled to the Hamilton area, to participate in the Glanbrook Rangers - Fall
Classic ‘A’ Division tournament.
Friday’s first game featured a tight checking affair against the Pelham Panthers, resulting in a 2-2 tie. Later that same day, the Stars dominated in their 8-0 victory over the Riverside Rangers. Saturday marked the end of round-robin play, as the Stars tied the London Jr. Mustangs 1-1 in their morning game, while defeating the host Glanbrook Rangers 2-1 that evening.
Finishing 2-0-2 in the round-robin, the Stars then faced-off against the Pelham Panthers in the semi-finals on Sunday. Jumping out to a 2-0 lead, they were able to hang on for the 2-1 victory, setting up a re-match against Glanbrook in the Finals. Though the Stars scored the opening tally in the 1st period, they were unable to hang on, falling 2-1.
This tournament presented an early opportunity for the players to compete against some excellent hockey teams, and the coaching staff is hoping to use this past weekend as a springboard for the season. Great job to all of the Peewee BB's, who start their regular season this Friday, September 29th.
