Rowan's Law
Submitted By Dan Dowling on Thursday, September 5, 2019
The 2019 – 2020 Hockey Season is upon us and we have some important information to share with you. Rowan’s Law was implemented in honour of Rowan Stringer, the 17-year-old rugby player whose death resulted from sustaining multiple concussions. Because of this law, every Trainer on a team must have their HTCP Level 1. The Hockey Trainer Certification Program is designed to educate people in the prevention, recognition and management of hockey-related injuries and is the only sport-specific risk management, injury management and safety education program in Ontario.

Starting this season, participants will be required to review the issued Concussion Awareness Resources, sign the acknowledgment form and submit it to their respective minor hockey association. For more information on this please visit the below link.

LEADING THE WAY IN PLAYER SAFETY

Included is a copy of the acknowledgement form, that must be signed for every player before they step on the ice this year. If you can, have this filled out for your first day; it will assist in a smooth beginning to our season. We will have copies on hand for coaches, and parents if you do not have access to a printer.
