Message from the NDMHA President
Welcome back…
Hockey is back, sort of. While we hope it returns to a similar fashion as pre-COVID, it will not look the same, but it also won’t be the same as last season, if you can call last year a season. There are however, some similarities to the COVID season.
Wearing of masks will be mandatory on entry and in dressing rooms (until helmet worn, players are recommended to come dressed, maximum of 9 people in dressing rooms (two dressing rooms per ice slot and chairs in hallway for putting on skates) and a very large (and controversial) policy that every eligible member must have double vaccination by end October.
Reminder that these policies are from higher organizations and the Executive will be ensuring compliance.
As well, with these policies, we the Executive, feel your frustrations, but let us not dwell on these issues and prepare our hockey players to have fun and enjoy the greatest game on Earth!
Representative Hockey is back; congratulations to the successful coaches - especially preparing for the upcoming try-outs, the Local League will be starting mid-October and our Initiation Program starts this weekend! Whew, lots of time being at the arena again!
In closing, I feel it necessary to once again call on you, the membership. The Executive has seen a decline in representation, and as the saying is “many hands make light work”, we could use you. Therefore, if you have a passion to ensure our future hockey players have an enjoyable experience, your assistance on the Executive would be helpful. If interested, feel free to reach out to any member of the Executive to express your interest.
Last words. Many of you are feeling frustrated with many aspects of the upcoming season, and trust me, the Executive feel the same frustrations at an even higher degree. So please refrain from taking your frustration out on Executive members, Arena Staff, Arena Security, and the numerous volunteers helping our players become the best they can be!
